Summer 2023 was bookended by zine fests. It began with KC Zine Con #8 on the first Saturday in June, and then over labor day weekend, I celebrated summer’s end at Paper Plains Zine Fest just across the stateline in Lawrence, KS. This was only Paper Plains’ second year, but you wouldn’t know it — this fest is run like a well-oiled machine and I had a top notch tabling experience. Time flies. I can’t believe it has been just over a month since I tabled KC Zine Con #8 on June 3rd. It feels like it happened last weekend, and I’m still riding that good, good zine fest high, all inspiration and motivation. Time fucking flies. Zine workshops, classes, or panels are a great way to build community, unleash creativity, and spark inspiration. I’d love the opportunity to teach your students, friends, neighbors, members, etc. about writing and crafting zines! I visited the Denver Zine Library a little over a year ago, during a time when I wasn’t blogging. But now that I’m back in the blogosphere, I wanted to re-cap my visit! The Denver Zine Library has been around since 2003, and is currently located in The Temple, an artist’s collective housed within a converted cathedral. Truth be told, the Library can be a little hard to find if you’re not in the know; the building doesn’t have a lot of signage, and the cathedral itself is a little intimidating!
