Hi there! 👋 I’m Dayna and this is my blog. A little bit about me: I value community, autonomy, joy, expression, beauty, and authenticity. For over twenty years now, I’ve been making zines, and I’m passionate about fostering zine communities both online and irl. To me, zines are a way of life, one that approaches everything with a do-it-yourself (or, more accurately, do-it-together) mentality, creating connection and increasing accessibility. On this website, I blog about zines and my life, and share tutorials, musings, and missives. I’ve been making websites for even longer than I’ve been making zines, and I just wouldn’t feel like myself if I didn’t have a home on the web.

Here are a few fun facts about me: I practice witchcraft. I live in a little yellow cottage with my husband and our two cats, Ruby Soho and Snoopy. I collect zines (obviously), vinyl records, cassette tapes, stickers, and a variety of weird little toys (mostly antique plush, but also a smattering of artist-made figurines and vinyl gacha!prizes). My other hobbies include riding bikes, enjoying live music, video production, porch-sitting with friends, exploring cities, gardening, writing my penpals, and practicing yoga. I don’t have a driver’s license, and I don’t ever want one. My favorite emojis are 💌💖✂️🏴🐌🌼🌙🐛💗✨🌱.

You can reach me via email: or via snail mail: P.O. Box 413195, Kansas City, MO 64141 USA. Visit me elsewhere online at my web-cottage or follow me on pixelfed, or tune in to my youtube channel.

I’m always eager to hear from folks passionate about zines and diy, and love trading zines! I am also currently scheduling zine workshops, panels, interviews, and other misc. events for 2025 and 2026, if you are part of an organization looking for someone to spread the good word of makin’ zines. Getting to share my passions with other folks is my idea of living the dream.

“Official” Biography

Dayna Moth (they/she) is a zinester, writer, and art-maker with a passion for storytelling, community, and removing barriers to participation in the arts. Their work explores themes of identity, magic, exploration, motivation, curiosity, and community. In addition to writing their own zines, Dayna facilitates Kansas City’s monthly Zine Club, is part of the Neither/nor Zine Library collective, and volunteers as an organizer of KC Zine Con, the midwest’s DIY Publishing Fest. Of KC Zine Con, The Pitch remarked: “micro publications serve as antibodies against the disconnection that haunts our digital age, and KC’s version of the vibe was just right… To attend Zine Con is to feel a part of a beautiful artistic community beginning to break through.” Through their eponymous Youtube channel, Dayna shares tutorials, zine reviews, and video essays about DIY publishing, helping zinesters worldwide reach new audiences with their self-published works.

Her zines have been archived in the Museum of Contemporary Witchcraft, the Kansas City Public Library, the Neither/nor Zine Library, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s Joan Flasch Artists’ Book Collection, the Denver Zine Library, and the LaBudde Special Collections at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. You can pick up some of their zines from their sliding-scale webstore, the Portland Button Works’ Spiral House Shop, at Neither/nor Zine Distro locations throughout Kansas City, or via Etsy. When they’re not publishing, cataloging, or reviewing zines, Dayna facilitates writing workshops with an emphasis on helping students craft personal narratives, and works at their day job as a creative director for a performing arts organization.
