Zine workshops, classes, or panels are a great way to build community, unleash creativity, and spark inspiration. I’d love the opportunity to teach your students, friends, neighbors, members, etc. about writing and crafting zines!

During a catmothcrow workshop, I help students discover their voice as they work to create their very own zines. My accessible and dynamic lesson plans, tutorials, and workbooks can be customized to fit a bevy of topics; past workshops have touched on everything from social justice to classical music to healing through writing. (Got an idea for a zine-centric workshop, class, or panel? Let’s talk about it!) I can even host virtual workshops over Zoom, an accessible, socially-distanced alternative to a traditional in-person event.

My encyclopedic knowledge of zines make me a great addition to your panel discussions on DIY art-making, punk publishing, accessibility, and more! I am a zine librarian, an organizer of one of the Midwest’s largest DIY publishing festivals, and have over 20 years experience writing, crafting, and publishing my own zines.

I am currently booking in-person workshops and classes in the Kansas City-area for 2024, as well as virtual workshops worldwide. I am also occasionally able to accommodate requests for in-person workshops and panels outside of the Kansas City-area; if this is something you seek, please reach out to me and we’ll see if we can make it work! My zine workshops, panel appearances, and classes are all offered on a sliding scale basis, dependent on size, budget, and need.
