A pile of zines on top of a sketchbook

perzine prompts to help cure your writer’s block

Today I wanted to share with y’all the different tactics that helped me bust through writer’s block as I crafted my latest zine, catmothcrow three, and a few prompts that helped shape the final form this zine took. Part of writing zines is dealing with writer’s block, but hopefully these tips and ideas will help the block be more of a tiny hurdle you can skip on over, rather than some sort of massive labyrinth that leaves you feeling lost.

favorite things: february 2025

Hi kittens! March is off and running — and it’s already halfway over! I started writing this blog at the end of February, and it’s taken me 2 entire weeks to finish it, but that’s okay. The march of time is both persistent and imaginary! Here are some things that brought me joy last month…

favorite things: january 2025

Rabbit, rabbit and welcome to February. 💌 Today is Imbolc and tomorrow is forecasted to be in the 60°s ’round these parts, which has me excited about spring even though it is currently cold and windy, muddy and icy, and the crows are waltzing across grey, cloudy skies. I plan, I procrastinate, I feel bad about myself, so I make a plan again to do the thing… but often, the cycle just starts again. Plan, […]

A Roll For Zine game sheet and a set of die

DIY Roll for Zine

Grab your dice and give ’em a shake: everyone can now play Roll for Zine! Roll for Zine is my silly internet game show inspired by Adventures in Aardia’s Roll of Sandwich series. Based on the whims and wishes of the dice, I craft, or crack the spine of, a zine. So far, this has resulted in the creation of one brand new mini (“Riding Roller Coasters with Vincent Price” from Episode 2) and it’s allowed me to revisit some old favorite titles. And now you can play along at home! Click on and download the game sheets, print ’em off, grab your dice, and get rolling. Fill the blank space […]
