Oracle Welcome Guide

Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of attending Zine Camp at the UMKC Gallery of Art, as part of their Midwest Zine Archive show. One of the camp activities was a presentation by Triangle Head Universe about their new zine project “Oracle”, a “quarterly publication amplifying transgender voices, events, and connected histories within the midwest and beyond!” They shared issue 000 with us, a jam-packed mini covering the impetus behind the project, a short history of LGBTQIA+ print media, an open call community writing prompt, some trans media suggestions, and a Transas City Community Care Directory — like I said, this mini is JAM-PACKED! Beyond being a wonderful community resource for folks in KC and the greater Midwest, “Oracle” places an emphasis on archiving queer histories and presents, ensuring that trans lives and stories are not erased by the censorship, hate, and cowardice of the state, TERFs, and transphobes. I’m so so grateful that this zine project exists, and can’t wait to see what is next for “Oracle”.
