New Roots for Refugees Farm Share: Early Summer, Week 2

Hey, Kansas City! Before we start talking about veggies, can you send an email to Mayor Lucas and the City Council, demanding local control of the KCPD, as well as divestment? Then, let the Jackson County Court system know that we need an eviction moratorium NOW to keep Kansas City families housed during the pandemic. I’ve written scripts for these messages that you can use if you’re not quite sure what to say, and have also linked to some resources for assistance and education… check it out! A better world is possible when we work together and take action. Now onto the veggies: This week we were seeing green! As spring […]

New Roots for Refugees Farm Share: Early Summer, Week 1

I’ve been struggling with how to start this blog, my -nth attempt at returning to online journaling. There’s a lot that I want to say: about why I’m writing a blog when most people consider the form dead, about the corporatization of the Internet, and about community and the importance of sharing our stories and skills. But I keep getting hung up in trying to condense all these thoughts and feelings into something short and introductory. This page will be updated as often as I feel like with zines resources to help you write, consume and enjoy zines and zine culture. Check out some of the episodes below, then hop on over to Youtube to subscribe to the catmothcrow channel. Once you’re subscribed, you can hit the bell icon to be notified when new episodes drop.

A Visit to the Denver Zine Library

I visited the Denver Zine Library a little over a year ago, during a time when I wasn’t blogging. But now that I’m back in the blogosphere, I wanted to re-cap my visit! The Denver Zine Library has been around since 2003, and is currently located in The Temple, an artist’s collective housed within a converted cathedral. Truth be told, the Library can be a little hard to find if you’re not in the know; the building doesn’t have a lot of signage, and the cathedral itself is a little intimidating! (Having not known about The Temple before I went, I expected the library to be in a storefront or house.) […]
