International Zine Month 2021: Week 2

And just like that, we’ve reached the end of the first full week of International Zine Month! The prompts this week were fantastic inspiration, and I’m so excited to share how I celebrated with y’all: Day 4 – AmeriZine Day! Explore marginalized voices in the Americas. Buy, share, and read zines about racial justice and zines written by BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) from the Americas. This day was a great opportunity to revisit some of my favorite zines, such as Doomed from Alexa Lima’s Ulterior Zines, and issues of Cyclista Zine — titles from both of these projects are featured in my latest Zine Reviews video, but more […]

International Zine Month 2021: Week 1

Happy International Zine Month, y’all! 🌸✂️ International Zine Month is an interactive celebration of all things zines created by Stolen Sharpie Revolution author (and prolific zinester) Alex Wrekk. Each year, they release a great calendar of activities and prompts so you can get involved in the festivities! Come up with a concise definition in your own words and share it with others. I tend to stick with “Zines are diy publications […]

I owe you photos from two weeks worth of produce bags… as well as a recap of my entire experience with the New Roots for Refugees Early Summer Farm Share program. So, let’s get started! During the final weeks of the Early Summer shares, we enjoyed encore appearances from some of my favorite produce picks of the season, including the carrots you see above, as well as crisp kohlrabi, vibrant rainbow chard, and this warm, rustic rainbow of tomatoes: I’ve really grown to appreciate how every bag seems to contain some of the staple products I […]

New Roots for Refugees Farm Share: Early Summer, Week 9

Greetings from my (very crowded) kitchen island! One of my favorite things about summer is how accessible fresh produce becomes; between the farm share and my garden (and, of course, the grocery store — those bananas are definitely not local!) it feels like my fruit bowl and fridge are overflowing with great stuff to eat. And although it feels like summer has only just started, time has been flying by — I can’t believe that it is already the last week of July, and summer is actually half over! It means we’re reaching the end of the Early Summer farm shares, and we’ll soon be transitioning into the Late Summer program. […]
