Paperjamm 081122

In this life, nothing is certain but death, taxes, and that a new issue of “Paperr Jamm” will be waiting for me each time I check my P.O. box.

And here it is – the “Paperr Jamm Phood & Drink Special”, described by creator Dan McFadden as “a veritable smögåsbord of salubrious stories and scribblings!” All the old favorites are here: madcap characters straight outta your weirdest nightmares, absurd poetry, strange afflictions, and the grand finale fold-out section (always a treat.) Dan shares the unheard history of the original concept drawing for Star Wars’ Boba Fett (would you believe it, he was originally made of cheese and olives?), Nick Steel contributes a scathing poem about the gluttonous spider living in his chest, and we’re introduced to Donald Akerbab, a human döner kebab. As always, all of the stories are shot thru with a wicked sense of humor: the offhand aside “no vegan equivalent has been found” for amorovoraciousnes, or “the act of loving someone so much that one is compelled to eat them” got a snort outta me, and the end of “Isolitis” had me chuckling.

I’ve gotta say, getting to enjoy “Paperr Jamm” is one of the best surprises and has become one of the biggest delights of running @zinereviews. Thanks again for another fantastic issue, Dan!
