At Your Own Pace

Sometimes a perzine can act like a mirror, the zinester’s words reflecting back at us a truth about our own selves or a lesson we need to learn. Elisa’s “At Your Own Pace” was this sorta zine for. Recounting how a treadmill routine taught Elisa how to “be patient” and that “it’s not speed that counts, but effort, perseverance, resilience”, this mini made me reflect on my own new year’s resolution to let my artistic practice simmer (rather than boiling over in one big, messy endeavor that just ends up burning me out). It was a gentle, welcome reminder to stay the path. The only thing I’d change about this zine is the creator’s contact info — it links to a now-deleted instagram page, and I’m bummed out that I can’t see what other zines they might’ve published.
