If I were to assemble a pub trivia team of zinesters, the first person I would extend an invitation to would be Dave Hankins of Lazer Attack. He’s got an encyclopedic knowledge on everything from Claude Bell statues to King Kong movies to A.A. Milne, and he puts this knack for trivia to good use in his delightfully informative zines. He’s also got a talent for stamp carving, and both skills are on full display in “Giraffes”. With unique hand block-printed covers in a rainbow of colors, “Giraffes” reviews six movies and two books that Dave consumed in order to learn more about these gangly-necked ruminants. The zine is full of tidbits and trivia about the creatures, as well as cute lil’ doodles, and it’s an altogether perfect way to learn enough fun facts to run a giraffes-themed Jeopardy! category.

PS: While the giraffes are cool and all, my favorite part of this zine was learning about the gerenuk, a long-necked antelope also known as the “giraffe gazelle”. Dave’s sneaky-eyed gerenuk doodle put a giant smile across my face!
